\"REA<\/p>\n

We played and reviewed 65 rooms in 2015<\/h3>\n

These\u00a010 rooms are the games\u00a0that we wish we could play again.<\/p>\n

There is no perfect game, but these are the ones that still make us smile long after we escaped or, in one instance, failed in the attempt.<\/p>\n

That isn’t to say the 55 other games we played were bad;\u00a0many of them were great too.<\/p>\n

Rules<\/h3>\n

1. We only considered games that we personally played in 2015.<\/p>\n

2. We both had to agree to add the room to the list.<\/p>\n

3. There was no minimum or maximum number of rooms that had to appear on the list. (It’s a coincidence that the number is 10).<\/p>\n

4. Each company could only have one game on the list. (Note that two companies have merged since we played, giving one company two games on this list. However,\u00a0the games were designed and originally executed completely independently of each other.)<\/p>\n

2015 Golden Lock-In Winners<\/h2>\n

Listed chronologically in the order in which we played them.<\/em><\/p>\n

Spark of Resistance<\/em><\/a><\/h3>\n

60 Minutes to Escape – Portland, Oregon<\/h4>\n

No other room escape conveyed a narrative like Spark of Resistance<\/em>.\u00a0No other room defeated us so thoroughly.<\/p>\n

The Dig<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

Escape the Room Philly – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania<\/h4>\n

It started as a free pop-up game promoting a television show<\/a>, and grew into a permanent immersive adventure.<\/p>\n

Outer Space<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

Escape Games NYC – New York, New York<\/h4>\n

It\u00a0was\u00a0the most beautiful game we set foot in.<\/p>\n

Drago’s Castle<\/em><\/a><\/h3>\n

5 Wits – Syracuse, New York<\/h4>\n

When we went to 5 Wits, it felt so dramatically different\u00a0 from escape rooms. With years of progression amongst the high end of the escape room world, the similarities have shined brighter with time. From the puzzles, to the environment, to the effects, it’s remarkable just how old Drago’s Castle<\/em> is. It still feels fresh today. <\/span><\/p>\n

Manhattan Mayhem<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

Escape Entertainment – New York, New York<\/h4>\n

So clever and so fun, this was the first room escape that we would call “abstract art.”<\/p>\n

Mutiny at the Hour<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

The Crux Escape Rooms – St. Catharines, Ontario<\/h4>\n

We never stopped smiling on this nutty pirate ship adventure.<\/p>\n

The Chamber<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

Escape The Place – Colorado Springs, Colorado<\/h4>\n

We played\u00a0head-to-head, solving a giant puzzle cube akin to the video game The Room.<\/p>\n

Saint Angelo’s Castle<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

Komnata Quest, Long Island City – Queens, New York<\/h4>\n

It had the most intense, ominous set design.<\/p>\n

Nemesis<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

Mission Escape Games – New York, New York<\/h4>\n

We can’t fully separate the game from the start of a proposal<\/a>. This will always be a special game… Plus, it’s an awesome space station.<\/p>\n

The Wizard’s Apothecary: The Power of the Rings<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

Escape Room Live Alexandria – Alexandria, Virginia<\/h4>\n

Every element was magical, fun, and clever. Even their hinting system was incredible.<\/p>\n

Dungeon of Elements<\/a><\/em><\/h3>\n

Mission Escape Games, Queens (formerly Enigma NYC) – Queens, New York<\/h4>\n

Massive, physically interactive set pieces brought the Dungeon to life on an immense scale (especially for New York City).<\/p>\n
