I do this less because they fulfill the promise they offer than for the promise itself. Morrison fulfilled that promise. It is the best escape-room-in-a-box I have every experience. Me and my three guests were engaged from beginning to end, as captured by the creativity, challenge, and solvability of the puzzles as we were by the masterful storytelling (told through both conventional means as well as ludological). Most such products have a number of puzzles I can never solve and, when the solution is revealed through the provided hint system, I am disappointed as I realized I could NEVER have solved it, often due to poor puzzle design. With Morrison, I never felt that, not once – it hit my puzzle solving sweet spot every time. And, with the theme of game design, the entire experience is also a love letter to game designers, making it extra special.
